JASON TIEMANNDrums
Jason Tiemann studied music at the University of Kentucky. Upon leaving school, he spent endless hours practicing,
gigging and networking in the nights between his shifts on the sales staff at a local music shop. Swearing that there
was more to life than sales, he fully surrendered to his musical calling and has been a professional freelance jazz
drummer and educator throughout the Midwest for the past ten years.
During this time he has performed with and or recorded with many highly acclaimed musicians such as David Liebman, Richard Davis, Mose Allison, Mark Murphy, Rufus Reid, Ben Monder, Tom Harrell, Barry Ries, Slide Hampton, Norah Jones, Brad Turner and many others. Following a stint as drumset instructor at the University of Kentucky, he has conducted clinics throughout the United States and Europe. For the past four years Jason has been the applied jazz drumset instructor for the University of Louisville’s jazz studies department. Furthermore, he has been an artist/clinician for the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops for the past seven years. Jason currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky where he frequently books engagements with his own groups and regularly performs with the Harry Pickens trio. He has also has contributed to the Midwest’s underground music scene through his participation with groups such as Liberation Prophecy, a nine piece group that plays highly original yet wild and crazy/modern indy jazz as well as the clever and unorthodox accordion quartet, Squeeze-Bot. His most recent notable gigs include concerts throughout the Midwest with Randy Brecker, Jim Snidero, David Liebman, Bill Watrous and Bobby Shew. Most recently he performed with Liberation Prophecy at Fat Cat in New York City. - Back to faculty listing - |
