This workshop MUST be taken in conjunction with the week-long workshop!

You don't have to attend the primer if you are coming to the week-long session, but you must take the week-long session if you are coming to the primer. You can NOT attend ONLY the Bass/Drum/Guitar 2-Day Workshop Primer. This 2-Day Workshop is designed specifically for Guitarists, Bass players and Drummers who plan on attending the week-long Summer Jazz Workshop. This is an opportunity to learn about jazz improvisation, get HANDS-ON playing time and ask any question(s) you may have. The sessions are very informal and relaxed, yet highly structured. If you are a novice improviser, teacher, or even a pro who has always felt there was more to learn, you'll truly enjoy these two days. As a bonus, there will be a jam session on Saturday night to give you the opportunity to jam with all the musicians attending Jamey's 2-Day Seminar!

The Bass/Drum/Guitar 2-Day Workshop Primer; Saturday and Sunday

The Week-Long Workshop; Sunday thru Friday

This is the perfect opportunity for you to get the most out of your summer jazz experience! You begin by taking the Bass/Drum/Guitar 2-Day Workshop Primer. This relaxed program, in a hands-on format, is a great way to get started correctly on the road to being a better jazz improviser. The informative and entertaining presentations will get you excited about the possibilities and inspire you to be creative. Plus, you can ask any question you want about jazz improv and get the answer directly from the Guitar, Bass & Drum Faculty! The 2-day seminar goes all day Saturday (from 10am until about 4:30pm), and then picks up again on Sunday morning from 9am until about 3pm. THEN, when the 2-day seminar is over, you simply return to the lobby of the School of Music and get set up for the Week-long Workshop! Nothing could be easier!

Remember, the Bass/Drum/Guitar 2-Day Workshop Primer MUST be taken in conjunction with the week-long workshop!

Because you are attending the 2-Day Workshop Primer as well as the Week-long workshop, you need to arrive on the University of Louisville campus no later than 9:00am on Saturday. The 2-Day Workshop Primer begins at 10am on Saturday morning. You may arrive one day early on Friday night, but you need to arrive by 9pm. If you need a dorm room for Friday and/or Saturday, there is an additional charge, and you need to include a note with your application letting us know exactly what night(s) you need the room.

Maps, as well as information about motels/accommodations and what to expect, will be sent upon receipt of application with a non-refundable deposit. You may NOT apply via phone, FAX, or e-mail. ALL applications must be recived online or via snail-mail accompanied by a check or money order. The deadline is JUNE 1st, but we WILL fill up (especially rhythm section instruments) - so APPLY EARLY!
