saxophone soloist with Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Frank Sinatra, and others. He is the author of Improvising Jazz,
Patterns for Jazz, The Jazz Idiom, How to Listen to Jazz, Complete Method for Improvisation, Jazz Keyboards, Drones
for Improvisation, The Teaching of Jazz, Figure Reading Studies, How to Practice Jazz, and Elements of the Jazz
Language.
